Women’s Leadership Institute’s Workshop Lineup
The Women’s Leadership Institute at Manhattanville College’s School of Business is hosting a fall series of events aimed at improving leadership skills among the County’s businesswomen. The first event, an all-day communication skills workshop on September 16 called Communicating with Confidence, Clarity, and Credibility,
features Laura Katen, president of Harrison-based Katen Consulting LLC, and Myra Mass, founder and CEO of Stamford-based career coaching firm In the Pink Solutions. The seminar (9 am to 4 pm) and “coffee and connections” follow-up (5:30 to 8 pm) will focus on communication techniques and strategies that ensure a professional presence in the workplace. Business Council of Westchester Hosts NY Senate Majority Leader
The new Majority Leader of the New York State Senate, the Honorable John J. Flanagan, will have his first dialogue with the Westchester business community as part of The Business Council of Westchester’s next Political Leadership Speakers Series. Starting at 8 am on Friday, September 25 at the Crowne Plaza in White Plains, Senator Flanagan will discuss his leadership role in last year’s state budget. He will also outline his conference’s plans on key economic development issues facing Westchester and the rest of the state that the New York State Legislature will be working on during the 2016 Legislative Session. Honoring Women In Technology
A pioneering group of women in technology are to be honored by the Westchester County Association at The Second Annual Women in Tech Awards. Taking place October 1 at the Tappan Hill Mansion in Tarrytown, the Women in Tech Awards were founded in 2014 to bring attention to the tremendous contributions of women to advancements in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The honorees are Dr. JoAnn Difede, PhD, professor, Department of Psychiatry at Weill Medical College of Cornell University; Joan Fallon, founder and CEO, Curemark; Dr. Lynn Macdonald, PhD, executive director, Pain, Neurology & VI Next, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals; Andrea Soto, vice president, MasterCard; and Rebecca Sommi, senior vice president of operations, support, and engineering, Broadview Networks. The awards will also recognize two Westchester students, Brigitte Obermeyer and Lindsay Peckham, for their own notable achievements in STEM. The Business Council’s Annual Dinner
The hugely popular historian and political analyst, Mark Halperin, will be the featured speaker at The Business Council of Westchester’s 2015 Annual Dinner. Halperin, whose best-selling book Game Change was adapted into an award-winning HBO film, also serves as Managing Editor of Bloomberg Politics and host of Bloomberg TV’s With All Due Respect.
