5 Wedding Day Makeup Mishaps (& Easy Fixes)

All brides are beautiful, but nothing can turn a happy bride into a truly blushing bride like bad makeup. Even if a professional makeup artist applies your makeup flawlessly, you’re bound to run into a hiccup here and there. We asked award-winning makeup artist Ashley Cermele of Ashley Lauren Beauty Lounge in Tuckahoe to share common bridal makeup mishaps — and easy fixes for each.

Fix: “No bride wants dark tear lines running down her face on her wedding day. Waterproof products are a must! Try Ingot Eyeliner Gel in 77 or 96 for your bottom inner waterline; it won’t budge. And use waterproof Maybelline Big Shot for those big, dramatic eyes.”

2. Kiss Your Faded Lipstick Goodbye

Mishap: Short-lived Lipstick

Fix: “Be sure to have your lipstick ready and available all day so your lips are picture- perfect.”

3. Pore-fect Your Skin

Mishap: Shiny Skin

Fix: “Use a blotting sheet or a translucent powder to take away all the unwanted shine.”

4. Keep Balm and Carry On

Mishap: Chapped Lips

Fix: “Use a lip scrub the morning of your wedding to exfoliate dry skin, then follow up with a lip balm to lock in moisture.”

5. Don’t DIY

Mishap: Self-Applied Makeup

Fix: “Leave it to the pros. This will give you a peace of mind knowing that your makeup will be perfect all day long.”
