5 Napkin Burger Comes To Westchester With Ridge Hill Location

The popular New York City-based burger restaurant comes to Yonkers. Is it worth making a stop?

If you’re shopping the end of summer sales at Ridge Hill this week, you might notice a new dining option across from Yard House. 5 Napkin Burger—the New York-based burger restaurant with four locations in Manhattan—opened its first Westchester location in last month. The casual restaurant bills itself as a fresher, better take on the standard burger fare, and offers a variety of other dishes, including sushi and tacos. And since today is National Burger Day, we knew we had to check it out.

Start your meal with one of the appetizers: there are towering stacks of onion rings with Asiago fondue, edamame hummus, and a very popular guacamole, but our pick: a Southern twist on potato skins smothered in gooey pimento cheese. Crispy little potatoes halves are hollowed out and filled with a molten combination of cheese and tangy pimentos and topped with slices of their special cider braised bacon.

The real reason you’re here though, is for the burgers. We enjoyed the signature 5 Napkin Burger—an oversized 10oz beef patty topped with nutty Gruyere, sweet caramelized onions, and a massive dollop of the homemade rosemary aioli. Definitely try the BBLT. While there’s no cheese, the combination of thick-cut apple cider- and bourbon-braised bacon and spicy mayo made it our favorite burger of the night. For vegetarians, there’s the red Veggie Burger (it’s consistently ranked among the best in the city)—a blend of beets, squashes, mushrooms, lentils, and wheat berries—served on a multigrain roll with the restaurant’s special sauce. As for fries, the sweet potato fries were an absolute must, while regular fries dusted with barbecue seasoning (think barbecue chips) were a close second.

Chicken and waffles

If you’re not in the mood for a burger, there are also entrées, tacos, and sushi. The chicken and waffles is one of the Yonkers location’s most popular dishes and comes with a choice of maple or bourbon syrup. The bar features 16 beers on tap and a lengthy list of specialty cocktails. For dessert, it’s milkshakes all the way. There’s everything from classic vanilla to salted caramel to s’mores with marshmallows made on the premises.
