3 Hudson Valley Vineyards Ripe for Tying the Knot

You don’t have to fly to Tuscany or Bordeaux for a dream vineyard wedding. In fact, you don’t even have to leave the state. The Hudson Valley is home to rustic wineries that will make the perfect backdrop for your special day, especially the following three.

Benmarl Winery

General Info: Benmarl’s origins date back to the early 1800s, when a farmer purchased the property in hopes of joining the burgeoning grape-growing industry. Today, Benmarl’s classic charm remains. The property offers lavish greenery, Hudson River views, and a namesake Bed & Breakfast on the premises.

What We Say: For couples who want to customize everything, Benmarl is the perfect blank canvas. The Bed & Breakfast makes the property ideal for turning your big day into an indulgent wedding weekend (have breakfast on-site, enjoy a free wine tasting) for close friends and family.

The Nitty Gritty: The base cost for weddings is $7,000 (all vendors, except the tent rental, must be brought in). Weddings are all outdoors, held only between May and August. Benmarl can accommodate up to 200 guests.

Red Maple Vineyard

General Info: This 143-acre farm is more than your average vineyard. With a horse paddock, chicken coops, and a dedication to growing natural and sustainable produce, Red Maple has everything you love about the countryside. The recently renovated cow barn extends outside into the 28-foot-tall tent, outfitted with a custom faux-wood floor and cooling system.

What We Say: If you’re looking for the perfect mix of vineyard and rustic farm, Red Maple seamlessly blends the two, with the bonus of Hudson River views. If you’re looking to save, it’s the Hudson Valley’s most affordable vineyard (no need to pay for a tent rental, either). The sustainable farm even supplies fresh, seasonal menu options.

The Nitty Gritty: Site fees begin at $3,000. Their indoor and outdoor capacity is 300 for both the ceremony and reception year-round. Corner Stone Caterers offers menus from  $140 per person.

Brotherhood Winery

General Info: Founded in 1810 by French émigré Jean Jaques, this beautiful vineyard has a rich history. However, after undergoing a massive restoration program, the facilities are anything but dated. Stone buildings offer plenty of drama and charm for big receptions, while the tiny chapel is perfect for an intimate ceremony.

What We Say:  If you’re looking for romantic, Old World charm in the Hudson Valley, you can’t beat Brotherhood (it is America’s oldest continuous winery, after all). Oenophiles will enjoy the extensive wine list, and neat rows of grape vines and the barrel room really hammer home the vibe, especially in photos.

The Nitty Gritty: Site fees start at $6,500. Their Grand Monarque Hall can accommodate up to 224 guests, with several on-site caterers available.
