$23,000 Reward Offered In Yonkers Cat Killing Investigation

Experts are trying to profile what kind of person would commit such a horrifying act.

National animal rights groups including PETA and the SPCA are offering a $23,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest related to the discovery last week of around 25 dead cats in Yonkers.

Dr. Mark Sirkin, a behavioral psychologist at Mercy College, told News 12 the patterns of the killings can help determine the mental state of the killer. He also said the person who committed the crime is definitely mentally unstable, but future violent actions are unpredictable.

The cats were found last Thursday in plastic bags that were hanging from tree branches, just off Overlook Terrace . Postmortem tests indicated that several had been killed by trauma to the head. Some were dead for only a few days, others for over a year.
