Food Allergy Center at Montefiore Medical Center
This year, Montefiore Medical Center opened a new facility that specializes solely in food allergies. The center offers component tests (which break food down into individual protein components) and oral food challenges (introducing the suspect food in measured doses and observing the patient for reactions) to diagnose food allergies more accurately than the typical skin pricks and blood tests, which often produce false positive test results. The center prides itself on getting to the bottom of complex, hard-to-diagnose allergies, and treating everything from mild eczema to anaphylaxis.
