What's Your Favorite Paint Color Right Now?

Four local designers, and our editor, share their favorite colors for this season and beyond.

Among the trending colors for 2017 is Benjamin Moore’s Wish. This is my new favorite. It’s a great beige that is a true neutral, with just the right amounts of gray and yellow. It’s a completely versatile and sophisticated color that can work with any type of design: contemporary, traditional, urban loft, or country chic.

With exuberant fabric patterns and bolder colors trending this season, my go-to neutral paint color is Benjamin Moore’s London Fog. It’s the right mix of quiet elegance that rests in the background — perfect for layering expressive details in any room!

I love purple and searched a lot for the perfect soft shade that is sophisticated yet fresh. Don’t be deceived by the subtlety [of Sherwin-Williams Silver Peony]. The color comes through richly on the wall and is especially beautiful in a bedroom, bath, or sitting room. I like very soft greens, and despite the name, Benjamin Moore’s Gray Wisp is a green. The gray base tones it down and makes it super-easy to live with. It reminds me of the lamb’s ear plant in my garden: exquisitely soft and elegant. I would like this in any room with lots of windows or paired with a crisp white trim in a darker space.

I am far from a designer, but my go-to color for every room and even trim is Benjamin Moore’s White Dove. I had my living room painted another color, and a designer friend suggested I repaint it White Dove. I was skeptical, but I know not all whites are created equal, so I broke down and had it done. I could not be more happy with the transformation, and now I use it whenever I need a go-to white.

Benjamin Moore’s Gray Owl (right) and Revere Pewter (left) are my two favorite colors. They have been my go-to wall colors for a while. They are just what I look for in a paint color: neutral yet can help unify a space. They both play well with others while allowing the other colors to stand out, and they are serene. (It’s nice to have a color help to create a calming place to come home to.) They work equally well in a modern, clean-lined space or a more traditional space, enveloping you in just the right amount of color — or lack of it.
