This fall, real estate industry blog PropertyShark released its annual research on the top 100 most expensive U.S zip codes in 2024. One Westchester town held its ground and has remained on the list since 2017. Can you guess which locale is among the country’s priciest zip codes?
Drum roll please…
It’s Rye! This marks Rye’s seventh consecutive year being ranked, leaving people on their toes about its placement on future lists as last year it clinched a spot at #100. However, on this year’s list, the 10580 area made its way to #70, nestled between Carmel in Monterey County and San Jose in Santa Clara County.

Overall, the list breaks down which states have the most expensive zip codes. California sits comfortably at the top with Los Angeles as the most expensive metropolitan area in the country with 18 zip codes. Santa Clara County is next on the list with 16 of the top zips, while New York has 19 in total.
Rye has kept its spot on the list since 2017; however, its ranking has been shaky the past few years, with locals questioning how long it can secure its spot. Suffolk County made its mark on the list by contributing eight Hamptons communities to the list, including #2 Sagaponack and #3 Water Mill.
The PropertyShark report states that “the main trend of the year was one of cautious growth for luxury real estate.” The report is based off year-to-date closed residential sales, rather than listing prices, to accurately reflect the real-life market conditions. The 2023 report saw a decline in pricing and 67% of the country’s most expensive zip codes saw median sale prices increase this year. A record 15 zip codes on the list had median sale prices of $4 million and above.
