Location: 21 Vista Drive, Greenwich, CT
Description: Originally built in 1939 and purchased in 1982 by Donald and then-wife Ivana Trump, current owners Robert and Suzanne Steinberg have updated and remodeled this massive estate. Trump reportedly paid only $4 million for the property, which was worth almost quadruple that when Ivana sold it to the Steinbergs in 1999. With all the improvements and additions, the newest asking price is more than eleven times what it was worth thirty years ago.
What does that money buy you? Well the six-acre property includes tons of athletic amenities and separate apartments, as well as a main building featuring a three-story rotunda, eight bedrooms, 10.3 bathrooms, eight fireplaces, four family and living rooms, daily and formal dining rooms, two libraries/dens, a five-car attached garage, and a solarium. It is entirely possible to lose yourself in this home.
Asking price: $45 million — recently reduced by $9 million.
Selling Point: Gorgeous natural scenery set on a private peninsula, in-ground and indoor swimming pools, tennis court, putting green, and three separate apartments in the 4,000 square foot guest house that can also serve as servant quarters. That brings the total footage up to a staggering 19,773. Also: thirteen bathrooms. You will literally never have to wait to use the bathroom.
Downside: Buying a home is not usually considered a political statement.
