Stik(wood) It To Me

Recently we decided to finish our basement. I wanted this to be part playroom for our kids, but also a masculine (but stylish) oasis for my husband (when the kids aren’t down there).

I had the idea of making it rustic, yet mix in personal items he loves like his pinball machines, sports memorabilia, and vintage Star Wars posters.

We have one long wall that runs the length of the room and I decided I wanted to add reclaimed wood paneling to it along with shelves for his memorabilia. I looked high and low and actually came across a new product that I love called Stikwood.

I think of it like self-adhesive wallpaper. It has the great look you want, but not the commitment or cost of the real deal. It is the world’s first peel and stik reclaimed and sustainable wood planking. It comes in several washes like the heavier counterparts and you can order samples to make sure you like the look and feel before placing a large order.

I can’t wait to incorporate this new and innovative project into my design. At only $12/sqft, it definitely won’t break the bank and will be easier to replace down the road if we or future homeowners want something different.

Stay tuned later this summer, as I will be sharing photos when we’re all done with this project.
