Looking for a way to refresh your interior this year? Take a cue from these four local designers as they share their New Year’s resolutions for their homes.

“Accessorize. Never underestimate the power of a pair of throw pillows and a cozy coordinating throw to bring a whole new energy to a space. I love Alicia Adams’ classic Alpaca Throw. It comes in every color and adds a cozy sophistication to any space. Pillows made from Makrosha NY’s Rebel Rebel pattern, in alternating, vibrant, green and black raffia fibers, are the graphic pop of color your space needs during these dull winter months.”

“My New Year’s home resolution is to organize my master bath and only keep things out that bring me joy or relaxation. Bath salts, beautifully scented Joe Malone candles, my favorite perfume oil, Noir by le Labo, and my La Mer lotions. My cluttered surfaces make me feel a sense of anxiety as soon as I wake up. This will ease me into the day, as I am not a morning person!”
—Nicole R. Fisher, BNR Interiors, Inc.

“For my 2021 design resolution, I decided to renovate my bathroom. It hasn’t been fully updated in years, so I think it’s time! I’m all about wellness and nurturing, and I want my bathroom to feel like a spa escape: white, glossy, textured ceramic tile in the shower/tub area, a white, large-scale tile with gray details, a light-gray vanity with marble top, and wainscot molding that will be installed around the room. I’d love to do primarily silver tones (brushed nickel) and add a touch of brass in accents, such as knobs, sconces, and artwork. The whole space will feel light, airy, and charming!”

“After months of being home and staring at every crack and crevice that you’ve been meaning to fix, now is the time to take action. It’s the little details that spruce up your home. Repaint your doors and trim a dark color to create contrast and drama! Replace your old kitchen hardware with brass or black fixtures to bring it to life. Update those coffee-table books to reflect the things you love and to personalize your space. Accessories are an easy and attainable way to freshen up your space and make it feel new again.”
