Out with emerald green, in with purple, or, in Pantone speak: 18-3224 Radiant Orchid, the It Color for 2014, according to the experts at the Pantone Color Institute. While you might not want to paint your entire living room this color, Bedford interior designer Susan Marocco suggests adding items that are not costly and can be easily changed out: pillows, vases, a decorative tray, or a throw. “And you can spruce up your tabletop with accents of orchid: glassware, napkins, placemats, napkin rings,” she says. “Flowers are always part of a room design, so add a pretty purple orchid.”
