Westchester County Open Days Private Garden Tours
Get inspired during the Garden Conservancy’s next Westchester County garden tours on Sunday, June 26, as part of its Open Days Program. Two spectacular gardens are on tap for self-guided tours. Phillis Warden: This multifaceted garden at 531 Bedford Center Road, Bedford Hills, is spread over seven acres and features perennial borders, three water gardens, a formal vegetable garden, a wildflower garden, a fern garden, a marsh garden, a tree platform overlooking marshlands, a woodland walk, a hidden garden, and a formal croquet court. Westover on Hudson: Pick up tips from the work of garden designer and owner Robert Welsch of Westover Landscape Design, at 149 Neperan Road, Tarrytown, while following the winding stone paths. The colorful collection of plantings includes a wide spectrum of species, size, and texture from rare rhododendron and aralias to a hillside of daylilies mixed with Siberian iris, allium, and eremurus. Built-in resting spots dot the garden paths that also include oversized window boxes and container plantings. Both Open Day tours run from 10 am to 4 pm, rain or shine.
