Kim Mitchell of KAM Design creates a luxurious primary suite in Larchmont that embraces neutral hues and elegant fabrics.
A swanky retreat, this Larchmont primary suite boasts a neutral and plush color palette and decor, the combo of which swells with sophistication. The wood-framed upholstered bed is adorned with a soft, gray stitched coverlet. A pair of teal-and-metallic lamps flank the bed on either side, to complement the light from the modern ceiling fixture overhead, which designer Kim Mitchell of KAM Design says adds to the room’s romantic feel.
The Sound Shore designer worked alongside Thayer Home Improvement on the project to create the opulent, relaxing space. Mitchell shares, “When one enters this main bedroom suite, there is an immediate feeling of lushness and luxury.” She explains that the pebble-colored fine Abaca-weave wallcovering wraps the room to create a cocooning effect for the sleeping/TV area and the seating area. Soft, metallic details are continued in the room with the dresser and armoire finishes, employing intentional materials throughout.
Mitchell shares: “Through a mix of rich and tactile materials, including sculpted-silver aluminum-and-velvet swivel chairs, faux charcoal-tipped sheepskin bedside throw rugs, a faux shagreen console, marble bedside tables, leather ottoman, and bamboo-and-wool hand-knotted rug, the space delivers glamour and a sensory experience.”
