Location: Mamaroneck
The homeowners of this coastal Long Island Sound property are world travelers who wanted an “outdoor oasis” at home. They were inspired by sandstone resorts they’d visited in the Far East, so imported cream sandstone was used as a unifying base throughout the design. Landscape architect Sean Jancski and his team set out to renovate the garden and construct a pool area and cabana. These elements were all designed to be harmonious with the architectural style of the main house, giving the impression that they were all built simultaneously. An infinity pool with a dark, reflective surface blends with the Long Island Sound and beyond, maximizing water views.

Location: Purchase
Fifteen years after purchasing this house, the homeowners enlisted landscape architect Sean Jancski to redesign the pool, add a spa, create an outdoor living room with fire table, design a viewing garden from the eat-in kitchen area, and extend the lawn. The owners have a large family and love to entertain, so it was important that the outdoor living areas accommodate intimate and large parties. The infinity-edge spa is elevated on all sides and is the signature feature of the design.

Location: Rye
For this new-construction home, landscape architect Sean Jancski was tasked with creating a pool, spa, seating areas, and dog run in an area with extensive wetlands. The homeowners also wanted to extend the house’s living room to the outside. Jancski used the topography to their advantage. An infinity pool created the opportunity for terraces where lounging and entertaining can take place. The upper-pool terrace and spa can be used all year, while the lower-pool terrace can be accessed directly from the spa terrace and has a separate lounging area adjacent to the pool.
