Looking to update a lighting fixture or two without spending a bundle? I just installed two pendant lights over my kitchen island—all by myself! And if you can change a light bulb, you can too.

I found a conversion kit at HomeDecorators.com that transforms recessed lighting into pendants. Just screw the converter into the recessed lighting base—where you would normally have a light bulb—crank the cord to the desired length, and tighten the base to the ceiling. It took me about 10 minutes to do two of them. Check out the conversion kits here.
