When Sean Jancski Landscape Architects was hired to create this outdoor oasis, only the main house existed. Jancski and his team were tasked with creating the pool house, pool, spa, a new driveway and drive court, masonry and fence design, and landscape lighting.
“The overall design is organic and embraces the natural features of the property,” says Jancski. Each outdoor room flows from one to the next, following the curves of Jancski’s favorite element in the design: a serpentine wall that hugs the base of the rock ledge.
The raised infinity-edge spa gives the design interest. Jancski says, “The shape of the pool mimics the natural shape of the boulders, and the vanishing edge of the pool creates a feeling of a natural water’s edge that blends into the landscape.” The pool house includes a kitchen, bathroom, shower, and storage space.
The homeowner loves to entertain, so the wish list included a dining area and ample seating around the pool. To help feed guests, an outdoor kitchen includes a built-in barbecue, sink, and 24” fridge.

Best Tip: Have patience. Larger projects have a lot of moving parts and require a lot of coordination by the different contractors.
Biggest Mistake: Underestimating the cost of construction and poor project planning. There is a ton of value in project planning.
