The Oakhurst, a modern, shingle-style residence, was inspired by historic farmhouse structures. In keeping with the farmstead vernacular, Carol Kurth and her talented team designed gambrel roofs and dormers, white trim detailing, a weathervane cupola, and integrated naturally treated cedar shingles with a cedar shake roof. The richly composed exterior facades are complemented by harmonious, light-filled interiors, which Kurth and her team also designed. “The Oakhurst satisfies both form and function,” says Kurth. “Textured compositions and refined craftsmanship create a gracious backdrop for family and friends.”

Whitlock: Nicely balanced with eye-catching features.
Lima: The front façade of this home features exquisite rooflines and dormers, as well as a gorgeous combination of materials such as wood shingle siding, stone, copper, and painted trim. The architectural detailing around the eaves and rooflines helps to punctuate the dynamic and intricate lines of the dormer windows as they break the rooflines. It is an excellent example of symmetrical balance. The rear façade elevation, though flat, features steeply pitched roofs and large glass windows and transoms. The oval window and false balconies on the back façade add the necessary interest and focal points.
