Modern Bathroom

The inspiration for this bathroom was the “hotel at home” lifestyle. The space was gut-renovated and reconfigured. It now has a large picture window and a skylight that bathe the space in sunlight. The designer chose a soothing palette and layered textures, including smooth lacquer and glass. A freestanding tub, atrium-inspired shower, and double sinks lit with modern pendant lighting complete the bathroom.

Location: Scarsdale

This bathroom is used both as a hall bathroom and a children’s bathroom shared by a boy and a girl. Designer Nancy Mayerfield chose a neutral palette, along with clean and modern finishes. The colorful towel hooks and stool lend whimsy to the space. The quartz flooring in the room is both unique and transcendent. “My goal was to design a utilitarian space that was elegant and functional,” says Mayerfield.

Clean lines and light materials give this master bath a fresh and luxurious feel. The designer and homeowner, Sharon Rembaum, started with the tile, which is all dolomite. The floating double vanity was custom-made and is topped with white glass, in keeping with the clean, modern, spa-like aesthetic. Rembaum painted the window trim a dark gray, to make it really stand out and draw the eye out to nature. But her favorite elements in the space are the Murano glass sconce and Murano glass chandelier, which she found in Los Angeles.
