Master Suite

Lara Michelle: Lara Michelle Interiors

Location: Armonk

The clients wanted a luxurious and modern room to relax in, so a master suite was created by combining three rooms and a hall bath. It was decorated in neutral tones with a custom-fabric panel wall behind the bed. Designer Lara Michelle found the neutral-colored leopard-patterned rug, and “everything grew from there.” Plush textures and patterned fabrics add interest and create a cozy look and feel. The sitting area includes a TV hidden behind a custom-built half-wall featuring accent shelving — the perfect space for unwinding after a long day.

Keller/Eaton Architects

Location: Larchmont

This 1880s Victorian has views of the Larchmont Harbor and Long Island Sound from the attic level. As is common with sea captains’ homes of that time, there was unused third-floor space. The first step in Keller/Eaton’s design was to make this area into a master suite, including a bedroom, balcony, his-and-hers offices, an expansive dressing room, and a master bath. The large master bath uses recycled materials, and the tiled bathroom floor extends into a large, doorless shower alcove. Beyond the master bath is the wife’s closet, complete with center island, four walls of shelves, cabinets, mirrors, and built-in window seating. Bobby Noonan of Noonan Construction designed and fabricated the custom cabinets.

Claire Paquin: Clean Design Partners

Location: Bronxville

This master suite includes a large bedroom, a walk-in closet, as well as two additional closets, and a master bath. The space was gut-renovated to create a better layout and flow. The homeowner favors a more traditional aesthetic, so designer Claire Paquin chose a warm color palette. She created a “soothing oasis” by using a pale-colored area rug, window treatments, and paint, so the elements blend together. Touches of rich lavender were also added. In the bathroom, a clear-coated walnut vanity brings warmth and sophistication to the space. A warm, white marble called White Haze and glittering accents in polished nickel complete the space.
