What’s to like?
When homeowner Nancy Euchner first visited the unique 1974 Tudor on Schoolhouse Road in late 1998, she ended up with a flat tire in the courtyard. “Far from a bad omen, I took it as a sign that I was meant to stay,” Euchner recalls. Following her instincts, Euchner had no regrets and still cherishes her home 16 years later. At first sight, she knew it was the perfect property. “I just fell in love with its architectural character and charm,” she says. “There’s something romantic and fascinating about the storybook quality of a large Tudor.” Her husband, Jim, found a favorite spot in the bookcase-lined office with its own fireplace (one of the home’s seven). Realizing even “perfect” can be improved—the Euchners added central air for comfort, updated all four full baths, created a second-floor playroom with custom built-ins, refurbished the driveway leading to an attached three-car garage, replaced the roof, restored the skylights, rebuilt the indoor pool area, and renovated the outdoor pool adding a pool slide and custom perennial gardens.
