Thanks to the foresight of the homeowners, before moving into their newly built seven-bedroom Legend Hollow home in 1998, they redesigned and expanded the original plans, adding significantly more space and custom features. They made a standout home even more so. By adding another 1,000 square feet to an already spacious interior footprint, they were able to incorporate a sun room with wrap-around windows and terracotta flooring, expand bedrooms with walk-in closets and a full bath between them on the second floor, and add a guest wing over the garage with two Jack-and-Jill bedrooms with walk-in closets and a shared bath. Other enhancements: adding light by enlarging and adding windows, reconfiguring space on the main level for a large custom mud room with a sink and powder room, moving the laundry to the second floor, installing a heated, self-cleaning outdoor Wagner custom pool with Pebble Tec surface and automatic cover, and incorporating a maintenance-free leaf guard gutter system. From the point of view of listing agent William Ford-Sussman, “This park-like property sits in a private cul-de-sac on one of the highest elevations of land in Irvington in desirable Legend Hollow. Its rich architectural details and fine finishes combined with lofty living space and amazing amenities, including the year-round sun room and beautifully designed Bilotta kitchen overlooking the Wagner pool, make it extremely livable.” For some buyers, seven bedrooms may be more than the average family can use. But, there’s lots of flexibility here—two of the bedrooms are part of a private suite and can easily be repurposed as guest quarters or an in-law suite. The seventh bedroom is in the walkout basement and can readily function as an office or au pair’s quarters.
