The Goal: “This kitchen is a contemporary take on the cool, classic white, with a mix of the wonderful natural walnut as a warm counterpoint. The goal for this space was to open it up to lush views of the greenery and river vistas in order to allow more daylight and foster a connection to the deck and the outdoors. This was achieved by combining rooms to increase size, building an addition, and installing new windows and doors. One of the beauties of two trades working together (in this case, an architect and custom-cabinet designer) is that each brings individual expertise to the [kitchen] table for the best possible outcome. The goal was to create the most comfortable and inviting, not to mention functional, space the client could dream of. As the architect, [Eva] had the vision, which evolved from her meetings with the homeowners, understanding their needs and wants. [Tom,] as the custom-cabinet guru, worked closely with her to bring the client’s vision to life.”

The Goal: “Architecturally, we needed to add light and cohesion. The kitchen and family room were adjacent but completely separated, and the floor of the family room was sunken. The space felt oppressive. To make it airy and family-friendly, we needed to remove all visual and physical barriers. To do that, we raised the floor to a single level and joined the kitchen and family rooms. We broke down the exterior wall and replaced it with a continual panel of glass. Cheek walls bookend the handleless cabinets to lend definition. We looked to consider the view of the kitchen from every angle; there is no front or back to the space. We chose this color palette to further enhance and visually expand the abundance of natural light.”

The Goal: “This marble-filled master bathroom was exactly the uniqueness this Dobbs Ferry couple was looking for. The goal was to bring in a pop of color and surround it with clean, white walls to expand the space. [As a feature wall,] we chose a full slab of luxurious Cipollino marble with bursts of green and beige — without any grout joints to break up the stunning natural veining in the stone. We paired it with creamy, arabescato rosa marble for the vanity top for added texture while keeping the surrounding walls bright and white with thassos white marble.”

The Goal: “The use of large-format porcelain tile on the walls, floors, and ceiling achieves spa-like serenity in this Peekskill master bath. An extra-large shower is enclosed using glass with no doors or hinges; similarly, integrated lighting in mirrors and minimal cabinet hardware add to the bath’s seamless design. Teal lacquer punctuates the otherwise monochromatic space.”
