The beauty of a custom home is getting exactly what you want down to the smallest detail. So, when homeowner Teres Boniello had the chance to create her dream home that combined the two periods she loved most, she didn’t hesitate. Luckily, her husband, August Boniello, happens to be a builder. The result of their two-year, labor-of-love custom collaboration: A unique castle-like Baronial Tudor that combines Byzantine period details with an 1895 Normandy style design. “I love the aesthetic look of that one-of-a-kind combination,” says Boniello. “The Old World look never goes out of style. The design combined with the private, secluded setting creates such a majestic, magical feel.” Features with a nod to the past include two turrets; Gothic stained-glass windows; crenellated arches; expansive ballroom; and laundry chute paired with luxury details such as the high-end kitchen’s 9-foot by 4 ½-foot island with butcher block top, six burner stove, indoor gas barbecue, and wood-burning fireplace; elevator with a built-in phone; and master bath with a Finnish sauna and full Jacuzzi. The nearly five-acre property also includes a fishpond, courtyard, and in-ground Gunite pool with an automatic retractable cover. Potential for more customization remains—a full unfinished, window-lined walk-out basement; a walk-up attic that can be finished as a loft; and the ability to act on the property’s pre-approval for a 60-foot by 40-foot barn and two horses.
