It is a rare thing these days for a local business to make it to their 75th anniversary, let alone a family-owned business, but that is just what Kanter’s Carpet & Home is celebrating.
“It is truly incredible to not only continue [my grandfather’s] legacy, but to experience its transition and watch it thrive,” says Brian Kanter, who now oversees the business. “It is such a rarity in today’s world for a family-owned business like ours to survive several generations — it’s a testament to both our amazing staff and loyal customers.”
When Kanter’s was started, it was a labor workroom installing and repairing flooring. As the years progressed, Brian’s grandfather and father added a retail division with a showroom including carpet and hard-surface flooring. Today, the company still has a highly skilled team, but a much larger array of products including carpeting, custom area rugs, luxury vinyl flooring, laminate flooring, hardwood floors, window treatments, and custom blinds, and they complete work around the nation, including, Vermont, New Hampshire, Denver, Washington, DC, South Carolina, and Florida, to name a few.
To celebrate their big anniversary, Kanter’s kicked off the launch of the Celerie Kemble collection with Brian’s other company, L&M Custom Carpets and Rugs. The festivities continued with the staff who had a private party to allow them a chance to relax and reflect on where they have all come as a team.
We think it’s safe to say that you can expect bigger and better things to continue for Kanter’s and they will continue to be a staple in the community for another 75+ years.
