House of the Week, Frank Lloyd Wright Usonia Tour, 18th Annual Westchester Fine Craft Show

Designed with Hospitality in Mind
$2.9 million
Annual property taxes: $77,060
52 Ardsley Ave, Irvington
Gracious living never looked so good as on this 13-room brick Georgian Colonial. “Every aspect of this property is really lovely,” says listing agent William Ford-Sussman. “From the magnolia-shaded entrance to the amazing architectural details that fill each room, it has an easy elegance and timeless grace. The unique design makes it both welcoming and remarkably private.” Surely, it was designed with hospitality in mind. From its inviting entrance to its walkout basement with a billiards room and recreation room, it’s guest-ready. All four bedrooms include en-suite baths—the master bedroom suite is rounded out with a dressing and sitting room, and its own private balcony. The gracious hospitality continues to its multiple patios, terraces, and a pool that make entertaining a breeze. Guests also have their own space ready and waiting in the charming, two-story, 1,700-square-foot caretaker cottage featuring its own multiple entrances and porches. Updated just as graciously, the one-and-a-half-acre property still retains the markings of its 1920 heritage—an embossed front stairway with mahogany banisters, unique hand-carved fireplaces, a contoured sunroom ceiling, and rear servants’ stairway. A generous number of windows, from the grand Palladian in the entrance hall to the wall-to-wall bay window in the library, keep the entire house unexpectedly bright—just one of many pleasant surprises found throughout.
