The Top Home Trends From High Point, According to Westchester Designers

The experts at Curated Nest share their top picks from the spring iteration of the High Point Market in North Carolina.

For those in the home design space, going to the High Point Market is a bit like opening presents at Christmastime; you might not know what to expect, but there’s bound to be something good.

The market, which takes place semiannually in High Point, North Carolina, is a behemoth trade show catered to industry professionals. It’s the place to go to browse, learn about new brands and makers, and discover the hottest products and design trends of the season. While it’s a bit too late to attend spring’s market, which took place from April 26-30, never fear! We touched base with Erin Coren and Lina Galvão, the designers behind Curated Nest in Greenwich, to learn more about the top trends they spotted while they were down at High Point.

Cottage vibes continue

If you were wondering if it’s too late to embrace #cottagecore, it’s still very much on-trend, Coren and Galvão share. They note that a “touch of nostalgia, modern cottage, country cottage, and British-inspired trends continue,” as does the “use of tweed, wood plaids, and houndstooth.” In other words, if you love a good country-chic aesthetic, there’s no better time to incorporate touches of it into your home.

Sustainability and wellbeing are hot

With cold plunges, red light therapy, and sauna time all buzzwords in the health and wellness space, it’s hardly a surprise that such concepts have made their way into the home design market. During their trip to High Point, Coren and Galvão observed a “focus on sustainability and wellbeing in design, neuro-aesthetics, [and] a focus on sensory elements, especially fragrances.” Eco-friendly materials are in, and home scents that smell good and are actually good for you are the way to go.

Wine all the time

This one seems to pop up every autumn, and 2025 is no exception. “Oxblood/wine-colored upholstery, case goods, wall treatments, [and] décor” are all haute for your home, Coren and Galvão note, adding that red marble is another way to approach the trend. Whether you opt for a subtle pop with pillows and vases or go big with a statement wall, there are hundreds of ways to incorporate oxblood and wine hues into the home.

Unexpected upholstery

If High Point is any indication, upholstery is quite the focus in the design world right now. Coren and Galvão share that “stacked” upholstery elements, such as ottomans and lounge chairs, will be on the rise [no pun intended], as will organic and modern curvy shapes and bolsters and pillows. On top of that, keep an eye out for unexpected upholstery on items such as case goods, mirrors, and lamps. While not necessarily traditional, the unconventional upholstery can add a soft, cozy touch to interiors.

Statement lighting shines

Say goodbye to minimalism and hello to statement styles! Coren and Galvão observed lots of “sculptural and oversized lighting” at High Point Market, as well as “lighting with multiple tiers and draping.” If you’ve been considering swapping out lighting fixtures, take advantage of this trend by incorporating a statement style into your space. The designers add that “playful color and pattern and diaphanous shapes” are also popular, so why not opt for a fun punch of color or eye-catching shape with your lighting selections while you’re at it?
