If you want a beautiful and sustainable garden but don’t have the budget or desire to hire a full team to carry it out, check out the new company Plant Me a Rainbow (www.plantmearainbow.com). Started by two licensed landscape architects — Sandra Nam Cioffi, PLA, who grew up and resides in Edgemont, and Meg Herndon, PLA, who lives in Strafford, NH — Plant Me A Rainbow takes the guesswork out of creating a beautiful garden in your own backyard.
Cioffi and Herndon put together and sell gardening kits for homeowners. Currently, there are two perennial kits available ($2,150 each) — one for full sun and one for partial — and two annual packs ($425 each), which can be used for cutting gardens: a mixed bouquet garden pack, and a mixed dahlias garden pack. They are hoping to expand their offerings and are in the process of testing other kits.
All kits come with planting designs; for customers who order more than one kit, the team sends a customized, hand-rendered planting plan, which takes the homeowner’s site into consideration and shows specifically how to place plants on their property. Either way, the idea is that Plant Me A Rainbow offers a network to whom customers can reach out and ask for help from.
“The reality is, one’s home is the largest investment they will ever make,” says Cioffi. “A beautiful garden is a long-term investment in the value of one’s home and in the environmental and physical health of communities. Our hope is to share this message with our peers and neighbors.”
