Give Your Head (And Your Wallet) The Perfect Rest

If you’re feeling thrifty—and touched by inspiration—you can stitch together a quality pillow without opening your wallet.

Transformations

Designer Brenda Kelly Kramer has a brilliant idea for getting pillow fabric for absolutely nothing. “If you have ever gone into a fabric showroom and looked through all the expensive fabric books, you can get discouraged at the prices,” she says. “It seems I always fall in love with the fabric that is $200 to 300 a yard.” But here’s an insider tip: Fabric companies discontinue their lines many times a year and throw away their fabric books (note, you need the large size samples). Get an inexpensive stuffer at Target or Kohl’s, stitch up your samples, and you’ve got a high-end pillow, virtually free!  You can also find fabric books on eBay, too.  These pillows were made from a Designers Guild sample book and I love them!
