With gorgeous views of the Hudson and a vibrant village scene, Dobbs Ferry has become one of the hottest among Westchester’s popular Rivertowns. Top-rated restaurants like The Cookery, Harper’s, and Sushi Mike’s, as well as eclectic shops in the village center along Cedar and Main Streets, have attracted many new residents in recent years, mostly from the city.
“There are a lot of people coming in from Brooklyn,” says Satoshi Maezono, a broker with Douglas Elliman in Scarsdale. “A few years back, the New York Times raved about the Rivertowns. When I ask people: ‘Why did you decide to move to Dobbs Ferry?’ they say, ‘Oh, my friend just moved here.’ So many people came from that area and throughout New York City.”
Maezono adds that the village has “a beautiful waterfront,” where recently renovated Waterfront Park hosts a variety of town events, including fireworks on the Fourth of July. He added that water-facing properties, especially those in the Riverview Manor section of town, between the village center and the Hastings border, remain especially popular. The median sales price for village properties last year was $837,500, making it one of the priciest Rivertowns.
