Three local kitchen experts share their favorite trends and explain how you can get the look in your own home.
“Transform your ordinary white kitchen into the exceptional by simply adding a second color and doing a two-toned kitchen — say, a gray island. The kitchen is still timeless, clean, and classic, but by adding gray, it’s different from your typical white kitchen. The addition of satin brass hardware, which is making a comeback, adds another element of timeless sophistication and warmth. The overall result is elegant.”

“One of my favorite trends is the colored-metal options that are now available for kitchen fixtures, especially for faucets and their accompanying accessories, such as water dispensers and soap pumps. My favorite is Dornbracht’s new dark-platinum matte finish: a beautiful choice to modernize a kitchen with elegance and sophistication. I believe the key to successfully mixing metals in one space — be it with appliances, fixtures, lighting, and/or accessories — is to try and harmonize them while avoiding
high contrast.”

“No longer just an afterthought to countertops and cabinets, kitchen backsplashes are getting the attention they deserve. It is such a great way to personalize any kitchen and deliver a strong focal point. Subway tile has always been an American classic, but look out… the new formats, sophisticated colors, various sheens, and amazing textures provide endless possibilities.”
