“This 3.2-acre property is priced to sell,” says listing agent Gerry Angel. “Its flexibility is ideal for so many different lifestyles, such as a starter home with room to expand, a buyer planning to downsize, or someone committed to a sustainable lifestyle who may be looking for a small house on a large property to grow organic vegetables and compost, with maximum privacy completely surrounded by nature.” The nature views and privacy are enhanced (and ensured) by the home’s positioning—set back from the road and backing up to 38 acres of protected parkland. The idyllic landscape offers the best of both worlds—extreme privacy that also happens to be convenient to the Scarborough train station and Taconic State Parkway. Other features: a waterfall, freshwater pond, babbling brook, specimen plantings, and wooded and pastoral views. Upgrades include a new underground 400-amp electrical system and eco-friendly septic system. Not only does the land lend itself to future expansion of the two-bedroom, one-bath home and the potential to add an in-ground pool, but the property also comes with usable architectural drawings for an expanded five-bedroom, 5,000 square-foot layout. Tour Our American DreamHome 2012

It’s been designed (architect: the late Charles Lockwood), built (developer: National Resources of Greenwich, Connecticut), and decorated and furnished (interior designer: Susan Anthony), and now our exquisite, elegant, and very green waterfront townhome is ready for its close-up. Designed with Old World craftsmanship in mind and using locally sourced materials, the American DreamHome 2012—a collaboration between Westchester Magazine and Hudson Harbor—will open its doors for four weeks of tours every  Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm, starting Friday, October 19. Set on the banks of the Hudson River in historic Tarrytown (technically located at 41 Hudson View Way in the Hudson Harbor community), our two-story “Carriage House” features signature architecture, a sustainable focus, and every modern amenity imaginable. Don’t miss the chance to get an up-close view of our tony townhome’s historic architecture, artisan details, and energy efficient features, along with the surrounding picturesque Hudson Harbor waterfront community. But this gem isn’t just for viewing—if you visit, you’ll also have the unusual opportunity to add some of its exclusive items to your own home. By doing double duty as a Pop-Up Shop, many of the home furnishings, hand selected by interior designer Susan Anthony and not necessarily available in retail stores), are available for purchase. A detailed price list of the items for sale will be available at the beginning of each tour. Proceeds from purchases go to our specially selected charity—Historic Hudson Valley, a collection of National Historic Landmarks that celebrates the region’s significant history, architecture, and culture. Best known for education programs and popular family friendly events, including the Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze and Pirates of the Hudson, Historic Hudson Valley preserves five museums of history and operates public tours at Kykuit and the Rockefeller estate. DreamHome tours also include complimentary wine and spirits samplings and light bites, courtesy of Crabtree’s Kittle House. Admission is free, but tickets are limited—register your visit at westchestermagazine.com/Westchester-Magazine/American-Dream-Home-Tours.
