Bedford Beauty, Holiday House Tours, Eileen Fisher 5th Annual Holiday Boutique

House of the Week
Bedford Beauty
$2.495 million
Annual property taxes: $55,212
80 Sheather Rd, Bedford Corners
Open house: December 11, 2 pm to 4 pm
Originally built as a custom home in 2010, this 16-room stone and shingle Colonial offers ideal circumstances: a brand new, never-lived-in home that’s already settled in—at least in terms of having all the new-construction kinks worked out. “The detailing and craftsmanship are amazing,” says listing agent Gloria Marwell, referring to the meticulously-crafted wainscoting, columns, archways, and oversized mouldings. “It’s stunning and laid out with such great flow. You walk into the expansive, two-story entry with its sweeping staircase, then move from one glorious room to the next.”

Those glorious rooms include a gourmet kitchen with a massive, central granite island and every amenity imaginable, a great room with coffered ceiling and fireplace (one of five), a wood-paneled library, six bedroom suites, including a luxurious master bedroom, a bonus room with its own full bath and separate access above the three-car attached garage, and a lower-level media room just waiting to be completed with additional custom detailing. Set on nearly ten lush acres, the grand property offers ultimate privacy. But why rely on photos and descriptions? Potential buyers can attend an open house scheduled for Sunday, December 11, from 2 pm to 4 pm. For more information, contact Prudential Douglas Elliman listing agent Gloria Marwell at (914) 393-0770 or visit www.elliman.com/gloriamarwell.

Holiday House Tours
It’s that time of year when fabulous homes become even more fabulous, dressed in their holiday finest. Take your pick from just a few of the holiday home tours taking place over the next few weeks.

New Canaan Homes for the Holidays Tour
Feast your eyes on five spectacular homes—each festively decorated by professional interior designers—at the 2011 “Homes for the Holidays” House Tour on Friday, December 9, and Saturday, December 10, from 10 am to 2 pm. The featured homes, each with its own historic, cultural, or architectural significance, include an Anglo-Indian manor, a former country stable, a 13,000-square-foot exotic estate, a California-style ranch, and a traditional American Cape. Tickets (purchased at $75 in advance or $85 on the day of the event) include access to the tour on both Friday and Saturday. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.newcanaannewcomers.com/home. Preview the homes at www.newcanaannewcomers.com/hht/abouttours.

Larchmont Historic Holiday House Tour
The Larchmont Historical Society will celebrate 100 years of holidays with its “Champagne, Canapés, & Candelight” holiday house tour and reception on Sunday, December 11, from 4 pm to 6 pm. The century-old, historic Craftsman at 126 Hickory Grove Drive East in Larchmont will be decorated for the season and open for touring as guests enjoy music, Champagne, and canapés. The event also includes a historical overview of the home and a formal announcement recognizing its inclusion into the Century Homes Club. A portion of the event proceeds will benefit the Cancer Support Team Organization of lower Westchester. Members can purchase tickets for $35, or $45 for non-members, at www.larchmonthistory.org or by calling (914) 381-2239.

Locust Grove Decorated Mansion Tours
Step into Locust Grove’s historic mansion (an Italianate villa designed by Alexander Jackson Davis as a summer home for artist and inventor Samuel F.B. Morse)—and back in time—on the next two Saturdays (December 10 and December 17) and the week of December 26 (through December 31). Christmas trees in each room at 2683 South Rd in Poughkeepsie, New York, seasonally adorned by area florists, pay tribute to passages from the classic Christmas tale, “The Nutcracker.” The guided tours include highlights of the unique museum collections and decorations showcased at the villa. Admission is $10 for adults and $6 for children 12 and under. For more information, call (845) 454-4500 or visit www.lgny.org.
