Robert Rising started up NYCitySlab after building his own home out of local wood, and more than a decade later he was just honored at 914INC.’s 2018 Small Business Awards as an Outstanding Minority-Owned Business.

Open for more than 35 years, this quaint little shop is now located on Purchase Street in Rye, and is an excellent go-to for fine art as well as antique furniture and bric-a-brac. They also take consignments and buy both single pieces and estates, and will even conduct appraisals for you if you’re trying to figure out whether that weird lamp Aunt Florence sent you is actually worth anything.
