The traditional idea of senior living is rapidly becoming a thing of the past. New developments aimed at affluent and still-vibrant retirees mimic the luxury-urban-living trend that has proven hot among all age groups in recent years. Waterstone of Westchester, the newest entrant to Westchester’s high-end senior-living marketplace, continues in this vein. The senior-living community (for those aged 62+) offers 132 residences with first-class amenities and support services aimed at providing seniors with independence, connection, and socialization. Residents will have access to a movie theater, fitness center, indoor pool, lobby bar, art studio, and salon, plus chauffeured car service, garage parking, and an on-site concierge.
Waterstone of Westchester has also developed an on-site partnership with home healthcare agency VNS Westchester to provide health services for residents. Several on-site dining venues will offer gourmet cuisine prepared by professional chefs who use locally sourced and seasonal ingredients.
Its location on Bloomingdale Road in Downtown White Plains means Waterstone of Westchester residents can capitalize on the city’s walkability, with convenient access to restaurants, shops, and cultural activities. The development is two blocks away from The Westchester and is roughly one mile from I-287 and two miles from the White Plains Metro-North Station.
As with all high-end senior-living developments, these perks do not come cheap: Rates for the all-inclusive one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and two-bedroom-plus-den apartments start at $6,900 per month. Developed by EPOCH Senior Living and National Development — a company that operates 15 senior-living communities in the Northeast — Waterstone of Westchester is the company’s first senior-living community in New York State.
