This fall, real estate industry blog PropertyShark released its annual research on the top 100 most expensive U.S zip codes in 2022, which broke last year’s zip records.
Unsurprisingly, one Westchester County town made the list. Can you guess which locale is among the country’s most expensive zip codes?

Drum roll please…Rye! This is the town’s fifth year being ranked, although it might not stay on the list for much longer.
Overall, the list breaks down which states have the most expensive zip codes. California sits comfortably at the top with the Bay Area as the most expensive metropolitan area in the country with 46 zip codes. Los Angeles next on the list with 31 of the top zips, and then New York with 17 in total. To put it in perspective, New York represents 13% of the richest zip codes for real estate in the country.
Rye has kept its spot on the list since 2017; however, its ranking has been slowly decreasing as the area bumped down to #89 this year. Only time will tell if Rye is able to keep its spot on the 2023 ranking report.
Although Rye has one of the most expensive zips in the state, let’s take a look at one of the least expensive homes for sale in Westchester’s priciest town. This North Street property is priced at $715,000, considerably lower than the local median of $1.8 million, proving there are relative steals to be had if you know where to look and are willing to put in some elbow grease.
The PropertyShark report states that as a result of mortgage rates rising throughout the country, the housing market saw sales drop and price growth decrease. It also saw an increase of median home prices by 25% or more in 16 of the top zip codes.
