Color giant Pantone, meanwhile, has selected PANTONE 18-3838, better known as “Ultra Violet” for the color of the year, so expect to see all things purple in the coming months.

Upon choosing this particular color Pantone said ultra violet “communicates originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points us toward the future.” They went on to explain that “historically there has been a mystical or spiritual quality attached to Ultra Violet.”
