Best Use of Small Space

Denise Wenacur: DW Design & Decor LLC

Location: Briarcliff Manor

What was a bright yellow bonus room was transformed by designer Denise Wenacur into a tranquil and calm meditation room. The homeowner’s, who was getting her PhD in the Healing Arts at the time, favorite color is teal green so that was the jumping off point for the fabric on the chairs. That color was also brought into the wood trim and around the windows. The windows look out on to the rambling green property so simple, flat roman blinds were used and window seats were added to keep nature within view. Painter, Joe Adami.

Jennifer Howard: JWH Design & Cabinetry

Location: Rye

This new construction home is this family’s first house. With the kitchen (including breakfast nook) standing at only 450 square feet, a lot of action needed to be packed into their kitchen/main living space. “Every inch had to be carefully planned to make sure we maintained good clearances and walkways, yet maximized the storage and function,” says designer Jennifer Howard. The kitchen itself has island seating for three, tall frosted glass cabinets, walk-in pantry for overflow, a “command center” next to the table area.

Murphy Brothers Contracting

Location: Scarsdale

This was part of a larger renovation project with additions to this Scarsdale home. The homeowners thought this “funny little space” would be perfect for the kids in the children’s area of this home. With a little imagination this space became a tree house. The end result is whimsical and fun for kids of all ages. Designer, Stacy Gendelman.
