By David Sokol, $60
This beautifully photographed book features 18 homes in the Hudson River Valley, where the stunning views are as much a part of the architecture as the buildings themselves. The homes Sokol features are all contemporary, but are very different in their own right. Sokol takes readers on extensive home tours and has conversations with owners and Hudson Valley home professionals.

Jorge Sanchez, principal partner at SMI Landscape Architecture, takes readers through three magical gardens: two in Florida, and one in Scarsdale. He writes about the process behind each garden, his relationship with the clients, and the reasons for his decisions behind the garden designs. It gives you a deep understanding and an insight into the creative process behind making a garden. In addition, the book was photographed by local photographer (and Hudson Valley magazine contributor) Andre Baranowski. This is the perfect coffee-table book for any gardener or aspiring gardener.

By Pieter Estersohn, $85
This brand-new book, out in October, features 35 homes stretching along the Hudson Valley designed by notable architects such as Stanford White, A.J. Davis, Warren and Wetmore, and more. They are photographed by the amazing architecture and interior photographer Pieter Estersohn, whose work has appeared in Architectural Digest and who has contributed to many lifestyle books, including those of interior designer Charlotte Moss. In addition to being well known for his photography, Estersohn also sits on the boards of the Historic Red Hook Advisory Council and Clermont Historic Site, and belongs to the Edgewood Club in Tivoli — founded in the 1880s by the original owners of many of the homes featured in these pages.
