7 Standout Pizzerias for Perfect Pies in Yonkers

Whether you're on the hunt for a spectacular Sicilian or classic cheese slice, stop by one of these pizzerias in Yonkers.

With dozens of noteworthy pizzerias throughout the county, it’s no surprise that a cheesy pie is a go-to meal in Westchester. The City of Yonkers is lined with bustling pizza joints that have been serving the community for decades. We’re highlighting a few of those pizzerias, including a nearly 100-year-old business and the restaurant serving viral two-foot-long slices.

Bella Rosa Pizzeria

1455 Nepperhan Ave, Yonkers; 914.279.3588

There’s nothing but locally sourced and passionately made pies on this pizzeria’s menu. Bella Rose is a traditional New York pizzeria that makes most of its components in-house, including the fresh mozzarella dough and the pizza and pasta sauces. While this spot is a newer business – having been open for three years – the team strives to create a one-of-a-kind experience for each customer. For larger to-dos, Bella Rose caters weddings, corporate events, and private parties.

Dunwoodie Pizzeria & Restaurant

683 Yonkers Ave, Yonkers; 914.476.5008

Noted in our “Best Pizza by Style” feature, this cash-only spot on Yonkers Avenue dishes out swoon-worthy Sicilian slices. Admittedly, it also serves up killer plain and pepperoni pies and has been doing so since 1970. The local influencers behind @snacktimetv_ have made multiple trips to the pizzeria to try and showcase the over-the-top menu items including a garlic knot sandwich stuffed with chicken parmigiana and vodka sauce.

Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana

1955 Central Park Ave, Yonkers; 914.961.8284

The story of Frank Pepe Pizzeria started in New Haven, Connecticut nearly 100 years ago when Italian immigrant Frank Pepe opened shop selling his “apizza”. The original New Haven-style coal-fired pizza grew into a family business and now has 16 storefronts across seven states. The iconic crust dates back to Pepe’s first job in a bakery, during which he honed his baking skills. The dough recipe is wetter than the average, requiring a longer fermentation period and allowing for a richer, more flavorful taste compared to your average pizza crust. Next, the 14’x14′, 100,000-pound brick ovens work their magic, and the dough is topped with hand-picked tomatoes, locally harvested clams, and hand-selected cheese.

Gino’s Pizzeria

439 S Broadway, Yonkers; 914.423.5088

Another notable mention is Gino’s Pizzeria, where Giuseppe “Joe” Porco started working for his father at seven years old. From his father purchasing the pizzeria in 1975 to Joe ultimately taking it over in 2000, Joe has continued the legacy of serving a crispy crust and top-notch hefty Sicilian slices in Yonkers.

Luigi’s Pizzeria Restaurant

843 Bronx River Rd, Yonkers; 914.776.1251

Whether you’re stopping in for a bite with the kids, coworkers, or by yourself, Luigi’s has a wide variety of Italian delicacies. Go for the ziti with meatballs or the chicken cutlet parmigiana if you’re looking for a classic Italian dish, or opt for a quesadilla if you need a break from pizza – if that’s even such a thing.

Pizza Barn

471 Central Park Ave, Yonkers; 914.963.5396

Pizza Barn doesn’t serve up any old slice of pizza. This spot is home to the famous superslice that became an internet sensation when it first came out of the oven in 2016. Coming in at a whopping two feet long, these massive creations come topped with pepperoni, buffalo chicken, mozzarella sticks, or mac and cheese. In addition, there’s an option of adding garlic crust into the mix. This pizzeria opened its doors in 1975 and became one of the few pizzerias, if not the first, that offered delivery in Yonkers.
