There are few things more cooling than watermelon on a warm day and, for a sultry evening, this sip crafted by mixologist Dominique Maietta is essential for a refreshing and zippy cool-down on the double. Ciroc Summer Watermelon swirls with Tanteo jalapeno tequila, watermelon syrup, triple sec, and sour mix, then gets a finishing touch with jalapeno slices, lime wedges, and a watermelon-flavored sugar rim.

Didn’t think you could spike your green juice? Think again. The Kale Martini at this hip Rivertown spot is made with craft Colorado vodka, house-juiced organic lacinato (dinosaur) kale, lemon juice, and simple syrup — and it packs a healthy punch.

We wouldn’t be doing our readers justice if we did not include a drink from The Blind Pig. This speakeasy-themed cocktail bar is known for its unique concoctions, but The Smokeshow definitely stands out. Sweet, citrusy, and smoky, this vodka drink is made with Italicus, passionfruit, pineapple, citrus, and a flavor vapor bubble. Yes, we said flavor vapor bubble. See for yourself, weekdays, 4 p.m. to midnight.

Starting off with some spice, this pretty cocktail has a bit of bite to it. Made with classic Casamigos tequila, these might be too easy to down for tequila lovers. The fresh-squeezed lime, grapefruit juice, and agave syrup balance out the muddled jalapeno and orange, making for the perfect summer drink.

If tequila is your spirit of choice, there’s no shortage of options here. If you’re in the mood for something fruity, try the Sandia shaker made with Casamigos tequila reposado, St. Germain, fresh lime, and watermelon. A spicier option with tequila blanco is the Pepinada margarita with lime, cucumber, and jalapeno. But if you’re really looking to go all out, the colorful Venenosa margarita with lime, pineapple, hibiscus juice, and spicy shishito pepper might have your name all over it.

Warm weather equals tiki bar weather, and Salsa Verde has a lot to offer in that department. The Mexican Jungle Bird fills the bill handily with a Milagro Añejo Tequila, Campari, pineapple and lime juice, and demerara syrup. Or, mentally transport yourself to the islands with the coconutty Pain-Killada fashioned from Plantation 5 Years rum, coconut cream, pineapple and tangerine juice, and cinnamon syrup. And for something completely different, consider the Mexican Mai Tai, or Tia Mia, with Del Maguey Chichicapa Mezcal, Appleton Estate Jamaican Rum, Orange Curaçao, Orgeat, and lime juice.

Okay, we had to include a second drink from The Blind Pig. If you’re there for weekend brunch, the Bananarac is where it’s at. Silky, smooth, and boozy, the banana-adorned cocktail is made with rye, Angostura bitters, Peychaud’s, and absinthe. And, its Instagram-worthy look doesn’t hurt.
