Last night, Westchester food lovers descended upon Kensico Dam Plaza with one thing in mind: crowning this year’s Best Burger in Westchester as part of the 7th Annual Westchester Magazine Burger & Beer Blast! With more than two-dozen restaurants competing (and a healthy assortment of food trucks providing some desperately needed palate cleansing in between), 2018 saw the highest number of votes cast in any Blast yet, a staggering 1,374! Here’s how your votes decided this year’s champions:
Coals Grilled Pizza successfully defended its title of Heineken Light Best Burger from last year, with flame-grilled mini short rib & chuck blend patty, smothered in buffalo sauce and topped with Vermont cheddar, red onion, and a creamy guacamole.

Runners-up this year included Rye Roadhouse in Second Place and Eastchester’s Piper’s Kilt in Third.
Also making the Top Ten this year were, in order, X2O Xaviars on the Hudson, Southern Table, Wooden Spoon, Smokehouse Tailgate Grill, Shake Shack Yonkers, newcomers The Whitlock, and Westchester Burger Company.
This year marks the third win for Coals, placing them just one win behind all-time champs X2O. This is the first Second Place finish for Rye Roadhouse, while Piper’s Kilt has now placed in the Top Three a total of five years.
