Where to Have the Feast of the Seven Fishes This Christmas Eve

These four restaurants are upholding the Italian tradition.

A time-honored Christmas Eve dinner, the Feast of Seven Fishes comes with a hefty helping of tradition — and a lot of time spent at the stove. Not up for all that work? No worries, you can have the whole feast served to you, glass of wine in hand, at one of these restaurants.

Set in an 18th-century house, the seafood-and-produce-focused restaurant does an annual Feast of Seven Fishes. CIA-trained chefs Ryan Swank and Jan Michael Anastacio craft new-school takes on traditional fare, like oysters with prosecco-cranberry mignonette, salt-cod croquettes with bitter greens and bonito, squid-ink cioppino, celery-cured fluke, and lager-steamed mussels with bacon.

In Port Chester, Chef Andy Nusser’s Feast of Seven Fishes menu ($75) comprises seven types of seafood across three courses: scallop crudo with Meyer lemon and paddlefish caviar; black fettucini topped with one-pound lobsters, garlic chives, and bottarga; and crispy dorada with mussels, cockles, and chorizo. Dessert is a chocolate cannoli with bitter-orange ricotta and chestnut honey.
