April 26 is National Pretzel Day. Luckily, some of the best pretzels in the nation are right here in Westchester County, so we took the liberty of tracking them down and listing them out for your reading (and, later, eating) pleasure. Here they are:
Humongous hanging pretzel at Heartland Black + Gold. Yes, this salted New York-style pretzel is as big as it looks, and yes, it comes with not one, but two condiments: cheddar cheese sauce and mustard. The perfect accompaniment to this train station restaurant’s 11 Brooklyn-brewed beers.
Everything pretzel with rosemary at Brew & Co. in Bedford Hills. The shiny little bar at this new craft beer store serves this warm everything pretzel, made by Bronx Baking Co., with beer mustard from Brooklyn’s Anarchy in a Jar. Enjoy your pretzel with one of 12 beers on tap (or a tasting flight of four).
Bacon-wrapped pretzel at Apiary in Larchmont. This bacon-wrapped pretzel (or plain, if you prefer), also from Bronx Baking Co., is cooked to order at the newish Apiary prepared foods and gourmet store.
Baked pretzel with Shiner Bock honey mustard and hatch green chili queso blanco at Alamo Drafthouse in Yonkers. Movie? They’re showing a movie here?
Belgian chocolate pretzels at Imagine Candy in Scarsdale: The Rolls-Royce of chocolate-covered pretzels. There’s a pretzel somewhere under all that chocolate, topped with shredded coconut, rice crispy, toffee crunch, hazelnut…and that’s just a partial list.
More Candy Pretzels can be found at Tarrytown’s Posh Pretzels, which features chocolate-covered pretzels in a rainbow of colors and flavors. The menu rotates, but look for choices like toffee chunk, peanut butter, mint, lemon, Creamsicle, and cinnamon cheesecake.
