Another stylish restaurant, Zanni, has opened in Armonk. Its luxury greenhouse theme is unique, although not surprising since it’s located at Mariani Gardens, the Trump Tower of nurseries selling high-end plantings and upmarket home and garden décor.
Chef Jorge Madrid’s fare is Napa Valley inspired (a subset of Italian cuisine, think Tuscany West), and plates include an equal balance of wine-friendly fish, meat, and pasta options.
On the menu: tagliatelle mixed with root vegetables and seafood in a light white wine sauce; sheep’s milk ricotta gnocchi tossed with asparagus, cherry tomatoes, and a balsamic reduction sauce; grilled whole branzino with Parmesan Tuscan fries; grilled Atlantic salmon with lime mashed potatoes; and thin-crust pizzas. Desserts are made on-premise including a poached Anjou pear stuffed with mascarpone cheese.
Zanni is open for dinner Thursday through Saturday and daily for breakfast and lunch during store hours, so you won’t go hungry shopping for ergonomic gardening tools, organic fertilizers, and two-dimensional Espalier Fruiting Apple trees.
