While most of us are under self-quarantine, or at the very least practicing social distancing, the service industry took a heavy financial hit on Monday, when Cuomo announced that restaurants, breweries, and other food businesses would be being forced to either close or to strictly be open for takeout and deliveries.
And while we’re not advising you to venture out if you don’t absolutely have to, it’s only human to want to help out our local businesses when they need us the most. Because you’re probably sick of hearing about anything corona-related (including Corona pale lager), here are four local pale ales you should be able to pick up, bring home, and enjoy during self-isolation.
Freshchester Pale Ale from Captain Lawrence Brewing Company
444 Saw Mill River Rd, Elmsford; 914.741.2337
Westchester’s original brewery can’t be forgotten when it comes to its flagship pale ale. It’s malty with a hoppy smell and a slightly bitter bite. It’s not a juice bomb; it’s a classic.
Find it: Pretty much find everywhere beer is sold, including the brewery. Your gas station probably has a six-pack sitting in the fridge.

Pale Wolf from Wolf & Warrior Brewing Company
195 E Post Rd, White Plains; 914.368.8617
We’re not sure anyone is doing juicy haze bombs better than Michael Chiltern at Wolf & Warrior. His Pale Wolf is no different. It’s citrusy, piney, and generously dry-hopped with a clean finish.
Find it: Wolf & Warrior might be shut to the public for now, but they are fulfilling 32oz crowler orders for curbside pickup.
Paramount Pale Ale from Peekskill Brewery
47 S Water St, Peekskill; 914.734.2337
One of Peekskill Brewery’s best light offerings, Paramount Pale Ale — named after the Paramount Hudson Valley Theater — bursts with citrus and tropical notes and features a balanced hop profile.
Find it: The brewery will be doing cans and crowler and growler fills for curbside pickup on Saturdays, noon–3 p.m. (call in orders starting at 11 a.m.). Check for cans of Paramount at most craft beer stores like Croton Tapsmith, The Green Growler, or Half Time.

Toasted Marshmallow from Decadent Ales
139 Hoyt Ave, Ste A, Mamaroneck; 914.848.4060
Decadent’s single IPA recipe brewed with loads of toasted marshmallows, natural brown sugar, coconut, and Madagascar vanilla beans creates a creamy brew that’ll remind you of roasting puffy ’mallows on a stick during childhood camping trips.
Find it: Decadent is offering free local delivery and pickup at the taproom. If you’re further out, they’ve just announced that they’re shipping to 32 states. Single cans can usually be found next door at Half Time and occasionally at Beer Noggin in Mount Kisco and Bronxville.
