The Westchester Restaurants Open for Christmas Eve and Day

Make a reservation at these Westchester favorites for a delectable Christmas meal you don’t have to cook yourself.

We love the holidays, but if, like us, you’re already tired of the cooking and baking and scrubbing that comes with family meals around this time of year, consider booking a reservation now for any of these special menus that are guaranteed to leave you as round and jolly as ol’ Saint Nick himself.

Apropos

Enjoy a holiday dinner sourced from Hudson Valley farms at Apropos. Executive chef Danielle Ceruzzi will be offering a three-course, prix-fixe menu with a choice of appetizer, entree, and dessert on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Choices include jumbo Barnegat light scallop with cauliflower puree, Hudson Valley duckling with green peppercorns, and eggnog crème brûlée. The dinner costs $129 per person and is available both nights from 1-6 p.m.

Benjamin Steakhouse

610 Hartsdale Rd, White Plains; 914.428.6868

On Christmas Eve and Day, the steakhouse will seat guests starting at noon for a separate three-course menu. Start with either a classic or non-alcoholic eggnog, then move onto a starter of lobster bisque, shrimp cocktail, or winter salad. Dig into a main course of either bone-in ribeye, filet mignon, grilled Scottish salmon, or rack of lamb with sides like mashed potatoes, sautéed broccoli, or home fries. Then, end the afternoon with tea or coffee and a nice slice of chocolate mousse cake, carrot cake, or creamy New York cheesecake. This dinner runs from noon to 10 p.m. ($109 pp; dine-in only)

The Cabin

This White Plains spot will be open Christmas Eve to offer a mouthwatering a la carte menu beginning with appetizers such as P.E.I. mussels with garlic toast, crabmeat and avocado salad over mixed greens, or short rib quesadilla. Entrees include specialties like almond-crusted salmon with champagne sauce, grilled porterhouse steak topped with crispy onions, stuffed shrimp with crabmeat, and shrimp scampi over linguini.

The Inn at Pound Ridge

Chef Jean-Georges welcomes guests on Christmas Day for a three-course dining event. Choose from appetizers like tuna tartare, crispy salmon sushi, burrata with citrus salad, and basil and black truffle fontina pizza. Then move onto entrées such as a prosciutto-wrapped pork chop, roasted Maine lobster, and pepper-crusted beef tenderloin. Finish with a Bûche de Noël, citrus pavlova, or warm apple pie with whipped cream. Open 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. ($188 pp, $94 for children younger than 10)

La Crémaillère

This French fine dining restaurant is within an original 1750 farmhouse, and it serves hyper-seasonal dishes in Westchester. This holiday season, the eatery will offer Chef Thomas Burke’s tasting menu on Christmas Eve. Think: Scallops and caviar, Hudson Valley foie gras terrine, black truffle risotto, Maine lobster, Colorado lamb chop, a cheese course, petit fours, and a chocolate, Grand Marnier, or pistachio soufflé. ($265 pp, wine pairing $95 pp)

Modern Restaurant

The Christmas Eve menu at this New Rochelle fixture offers something for everyone via a buffet-style dining setup. Appetizers include coconut shrimp, mussels blanco, rice balls, and fried calamari. Entrees include stuffed salmon, shrimp scampi over sauteed spinach, New York strip steak in a bourbon brown sauce with cipollini onions, and stuffed salmon with homemade crabmeat, shrimp, and scallop stuffing with a creamy brandy sauce. And if you have room for sweets at the end of your meal, a dessert table includes an assortment of holiday favorites with tea and coffee. Dinner buffet runs from 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. ($69 pp, $40 for children 8 and younger)

Goosefeather

Goosefeather, a cozy and chic restaurant serving up seasonal modern Chinese fare, will be open on Christmas Eve and Day to satisfy any cravings. Enjoy the usual a la carte menu, including small bites such as the crispy shrimp bao or the dry-aged beef potstickers. For mightier Christmas appetites, opt for the Char Siu Berkshire pork belly or walnut shrimp. Dining hours are 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve and Day.

Moderne Barn

Gather your loved ones to visit Moderne Barn for a simple yet elegant Christmas Eve dinner. Along with the regular menu, the restaurant will have a special Christmas menu. Indulge yourself in lobster fritters to start, with unique options for the entrée specials such as a dry-aged bone-in ribeye, pan-seared scallops, fish stew, or fettuccini clam sauce. Along with the choice of all regular desserts, you can try the hazelnut budino, which comes with Nutella cream, whipped cream, caramel, and toasted hazelnuts. Moderne Barn is open regular hours on Christmas Eve.

Celebrate your Christmas Eve with a three-course meal from none other than X2O. Appetizers range from warm seafood crepe to coconut shrimp. For an entrée, it’s a tough choice between even more options, but you can’t go wrong with the braised short ribs of beef or venison. For dessert, choose from another wide array of sweets. The restaurant is open from 6 p.m. to 10 pm. ($125 pp)
