The Westchester Restaurants Open for Christmas Eve and Day

Make a reservation at these Westchester favorites for a delectable Christmas meal you don’t have to cook yourself.

We love the holidays, but if, like us, you’re already tired of the cooking and baking and scrubbing that comes with family meals around this time of year, consider booking a reservation now for any of these special menus that are guaranteed to leave you as round and jolly as ol’ Saint Nick himself.

Apropos

900 Fort Hill Rd, Peekskill; 914.739.3546

Enjoy a holiday dinner sourced from Hudson Valley farms at Apropos. The Michelin-Recommended Restaurant will be offering a three-course, prix-fixe menu with a choice of appetizer, entree, and dessert on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Choices include Atlantic tuna crudo, short ribs ravioli, roast Christmas goose, roast rack of lamb, and a Christmas Trifle. The dinner costs $125 per person and is available both nights from 3-7 p.m.

Benjamin Steakhouse

610 Hartsdale Rd, White Plains; 914.428.6868

On Christmas Eve and Day, the steakhouse will seat guests starting at noon running through 10 p.m. While Christmas Eve is a la carte only, the Christmas Day meal will showcase a three-course menu that kicks things off with eggnog (take or leave the alcohol). Dig into a starter of lobster bisque, shrimp cocktail, or a jumbo lump crabcake. For the main course, indulge in either bone-in ribeye, filet mignon, grilled Scottish salmon, or rack of lamb with sides like mashed potatoes, sautéed broccoli, or home fries. Then, end the afternoon with tea or coffee and a nice slice of chocolate mousse cake, carrot cake, or creamy New York cheesecake. ($115 pp; dine-in only.) For some holiday joy leading up to the big day, Benjamin is offering Santa Brunch on December 15 from 1–5 p.m. with a special menu for adults and children—and don’t forget to snap a complimentary photo with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (from noon to 9 p.m.), Chutney Masala will be dishing out the meals that earned the Irvington eatery a Bib Gourmand. While you enjoy familiar menu items like chicken biryani and spicy lamb vindaloo, you’d be remiss not to sample one (or a few) of the playful seasonal fusion offerings. Pumpkin lassi and mango eggnog, anyone?

O Mandarin

361 N. Central Ave, Hartsdale; 914.437.9168

While the old stereotype goes that those who don’t celebrate Christmas eat Chinese food on December 25, there is no reason anyone should be skipping the feast of the senses offered at O Mandarin. Open both days with regular hours and the restaurant’s regular menu, now is the time to take advantage of the readily available reservation and nonexistent wait time. James Beard Award semi-finalist Peter Liu is a spice maestro with dishes like Sichuan storm fish, wild pepper chicken, and, of course, his famous Peking duck.

Vida Restaurant

14 Marble Ave, Thornwood; 914.825.8020

The newly christened Latin-fusion restaurant will be welcoming diners on Christmas Eve with open arms and a creative menu. Bringing the heart and soul of Spain to Westchester, deviate from the standard holiday fare in favor of dishes like the papas brava (smashed crispy potato bites) and cheesy croquettes with Serrano ham, along with more complex flavors like the olive-oil-fried duck egg with sea urchin hollandaise and caviar. And who could pass up a giant plate of paella jeweled with proteins like chicken, rabbit, and escargot in the middle of the table? It is the season of sharing, after all.
