We Preview (and Can’t Wait to Try) The Inn at Pound Ridge

Part-time (read: weekends) Waccabuc resident Jean-Georges Vongerichten, the French chef and restaurateur whose Upper West Side Jean-Georges is often mentioned among the top dining experiences in the country, has opened The Inn at Pound Ridge by Jean-Georges. The location was originally an 1833 private residence. Later, it was an inn, followed by three different restaurants, among them, Emily Shaw’s. Blake and Melody Farrar helm the kitchen, serving contemporary farm-to-table American cuisine such as a prosciutto-wrapped Berkshire pork chop with mushrooms in a white-wine sauce and roasted hake with broccoli and grated-ginger dressing. The couple, who recently moved to Pound Ridge, are both JG vets; he was last chef de cuisine at The Mark Restaurant by Jean-Georges, and she was pastry chef at ABC Kitchen and ABC Cocina. Prices range from $12 to $19 for pizzas and $19 to $38 for entrées. The 250-seat space by architect Thomas Juul-Hansen features two dining areas—a lodge-like ground-floor room and a stone-and-wood downstairs room—plus a wine cellar for private dining and a chef’s table in the kitchen. Dinner is served Tuesday through Saturday. Don’t expect to just walk in; reservations are accepted one month in advance.
