If you haven’t gotten the chance to drop by Captain Lawrence since the soft opening of their new sister, Current Spirits Distillery, this weekend’s grand opening celebration is the moment you’ve been waiting for.

“Current Spirits is more than a side project,” says distillery and Captain Lawrence founder Scott Vaccaro. “It’s something that I and my team are very excited about.”
Starting at 1 p.m., the distillery will be taking over much of the next door beer hall, with music and small bites to help celebrate the event and Head Distiller Kyran Tompkins — formerly of Dennings Point Distillery — giving tours of the still room and discussing the finer points of the crafting process.
Guests can also enjoy craft cocktails from Mixology and Spirits Director Sara Pyles and $5 tasting flights of the still’s finest (0.25oz for each of five spirits), including straight and barrel-rested gin, vodka, rye, bourbon, and now the public debut of a cask-strength single-malt, plus more. $10 all-whiskey flights are also available, as well as 750ml bottles for purchase for those who are quick to fall in love.
