The biggest thing to hit couch potato foodies (since Top Chef) is the HBO series Treme, whose food story line tracks the post-Katrina world of New Orleans and is penned by none other than Saint Anthony Bourdain. Bourdain has euchred some of his restaurant world besties to appear in “Treme,” culminating in last season’s ultimate Dream Team scenegasm of Eric Ripert, Wylie DuFresne, Tom Colicchio and David Chang dining together in the Big Easy. Now it’s time for Bourdain to trot out some of his worst enemies (and there are a few). This Sunday, opinionated Alan Richman (Westchester resident, BTW) – who wrote disparaging words about Post Katrina New Orleans and Bourdain’s resto, Brasserie Les Halles, and was singled out by Bourdain in his book Medium Raw as a (and I paraphrase) “dishrag” – will be appearing in an episode of Treme, which he will watch in person at Crabtree’s Kittle House. From the Kittle House notice:
“Our good friend and legendary food writer (14 James Beard Awards for Journalism!), restaurant critic and cheap wine expert, Alan Richman, is making his acting debut on the hit HBO show, Treme, 10pm this Sunday May 15, 2011, playing none other than, who else, Alan Richman. To mark this momentous occasion Alan will be joining us to watch his performance, eat Oysters Rockefeller and Muffaletas and drink Sazeracs and Abitas. Please join us for an evening of “critique the critic” while enjoying episode four of Treme along with some classic New Orleans food and drink.
